He was born on monday the 24th of June 2013...

La partie la plus agréable de cette grossesse aura été pour moi le sentiment d'avoir le droit de ne pas trop en faire, se reposer, passer beaucoup de temps dans la contemplation, penser au petit être qui grandit  et créer pour lui.
Des petits vêtements à la décoration de la chambre, j'ai mis tout mon coeur dans chaque projet, rêvant de mon enfant à chaque point tricoté, crocheté ou cousu. Le tricot surtout s'est imposé comme une parenthèse quotidienne durant ces neufs mois, un petit moment au calme avec mon bébé...
Aujourd'hui nous sommes toujours dans l'attente de son arrivée, nous l'aimons déjà profondément, je lui chante des chansons et lui raconte un peu la vie.

For me the nicest part of this pregnancy has been the great feeling I have had all along that it was ok to take it easy, slow down and relax, spend a lot of time contemplating, think about the little soul growing and create for him.
From his tiny clothes to his bedroom, I have put all my heart into each and every project, dreaming of my child through every stitch may it be knitting, crochet or sewing. Knitting especially imposed itself as a daily break to me during these nine months, a special quiet moment with my baby...
Today we are still waiting for him to arrive, we deeply love him already, I sing him songs and tell him a little bit about life.

Peut être que ça paraîtra surprenant mais je suis ravie de voir l'hiver si bien installé en Nouvelle Zélande...
La maison se fait confortable, on a sorti les plaids et les coussins, parfois le soir un feu crépite, un thé ou un chocolat chaud accompagne l'encours tricot, les week ends passent tranquilles et dedans comme dehors tout semble suspendu.

It might come as a surprise but I am very happy to see winter so settled in here in New Zealand.
The house is all cosy and comfortable, throws and cushions are out, sometimes we have a fire in the evening, there is always a tea or a hot chocolate waiting for me as I get busy with a knitting project, the week ends slowly go by and everything seems quiet and on hold indoor and out.

J'ai passé un après midi bien tranquille à gribouiller sur quelques pages blanches. En sont sortis des feuilles et des branches, des mots encourageants. Du papier on est passé au vynil adhésif pour décorer les vases, les prochains emballages cadeau et puis surtout les murs!
"Enjoy the little things" dans un cadre festonné un peu maladroit, j'aime bien lire ces mots qui rappellent combien chaque petit instant a sa valeur...

I spent a sweet little afternoon doodling on bits of paper from which came out leaves and branches, encouraging words as well. From paper I moved onto vynil to decorate glass jars, create tags for presents in the making and to put onto the walls!
"Enjoy the little things" circled by a rather simple scalopped frame, I like having these words before my eyes at home, they remind how much every little moment has value.

Pour me faire pardonner de l'annonce tardive je vous offre un petit tour de la chambre presque prête.
Le grand panier au crochet est donc terminé et déjà en place accueillant jouets et tapis de jeux.
La série de petits paniers me sert à ranger les chaussettes (oui je sais il a beaucoup de chaussettes cet enfant me direz-vous!)

I hope a little tour of the bedroom will help you forgive me for the rather late announcement.
The big crochet basket is finished and already serving its purpose holding all the toys and the play mat.
The little baskets are perfect for the pairs of socks (yes I know he has a lot of socks!)

Nous sommes gâtés depuis les début par toutes les attentions envoyées vers chez nous, elles ont toutes pris place d'honneur dans la chambre.
Merci à à celles qui se reconnaîtront pour la guirlande (entre une dizaine d'autres belles choses!!) et la couverture faite main au crochet.
Les grand-mères et moi même sommes depuis quelques mois bien occupées au niveau tricot!

Since the beginning of the pregnancy we have been spoilt with lovely presents, each one of them has got a place in the bedroom.
Thank you to the ladies who will recognize themselves for the beautiful buntings (in amongst another dozen gorgeous presents) and the handmade blanket.
The grandmothers and myself have been fairly busy knitting for the last few months!

Vous avez du deviner... c'est un petit garçon que nous attendons, mon dernier secret cependant sera son prénom!

You would have guessed by now... we are expecting a baby boy, my last secret though will be his name!

Comme chaque année les feijoas annoncent le début de l'Automne et chaque matin le même petit rituel, aller ramasser les fruits tombés de l'arbre durant la nuit, un panier sous le bras.  Les feijoas s'amassent et il faut faire preuve de créativité pour tous les utiliser...
Il n'est d'ailleurs pas rare à cette saison de voir sur le bord des routes quelques sacs remplis de fruits et un petit signe avec un prix, la confiance prévalant, à l'acheteur de laisser sa pièce dans le pot prévu pour.

Avec notre récolte d'hier j'ai réalisé un simple gâteau aux feijoas et aux noix, et c'est un délice! J'ai trouvé la recette ICI.
Et pour accompagner la pause sucrée, un thé à poser sur mon dernier projet au crochet, fait en 5 minutes avec un très gros fil en coton.

Je suis prête pour l'Automne!

Every year feijoas are a little reminder that Autumn is settling in and every morning comes the same ritual, picking up the fruits fallen from the tree overnight and gathering them in a basket. Feijoas tend to pile up pretty quickly and you do need a bit of creativity to go through them all...
In fact it is not rare at this time of the year to see bags full of fruits on the side of the road with a price written on a sign. Trust is key and it is up to the buyer to leave payment when picking a bag.

With yesterday's harvest I baked a simple feijoa and walnut cake, and it was delicious! I found the recipe HERE.
Nothing better than a cup of tea to go with it, and it was a good excuse to put my latest crochet project to good use. I made this coaster in 5 minutes with a very thick cotton thread.

Bring on Autumn!

Quand on s'attaque au salon... il y a beaucoup de bricoles à déménager temporairement!
J'ai tout groupé sur une table à l'abris de la poussière et de la peinture, et ma foi l'ensemble me plait plutôt bien.
Un mix en vrac qui va bien à l'oeil, ouf ça va donc être supportable quelques temps cette histoire là...

When the renos start in the living room... there is a load of little things needing to be rehoused temporarily!
I grouped everything on a table away from the dust and the paint, and I am quite surprised to realise that I do like it this way.
A random mix of things that is pleasing to the eye, lucky me this reno situation might be bearable after all...

Peu de temps pour mon petit blog en ce moment et pourtant j'en fait des choses!!!

Je vous montre un peu mes encours pour me justifier... Sur mon crochet un GRAND panier réalisé avec un fil en jersey gris chiné (trapilho) fabriqué maison, je le fais monter encore un peu et je lui ajouterai une paire de anses.
Une nouvelle pièce est terminée! Un boulot de titan accompli durant le week end de Pâques, ça vallait le coup cependant, on est bien content du résultat. D'autres images à suivre une fois la pièce décorée...

I don't have a lot of time for my little blog at the moment, yet I have gotten so many things done!!!

To justify this lack of posting here are some of the things I have been up to... On my crochet hooks there is a BIG basket that I have made using a homemade grey marle trapilho yarn. I just need to make it higher on the sides and add a pair of handles for it to be completed.
A new room has been renovated and finished in the house! It was a huge piece of work that got done over Easter week end. It was well worth it though, we love the result. More pics to come when the room is furnished...

En parlant de Pâques... Voilà à quoi je carbure pour accomplir tout ça : les oeufs en chocolat! Il ne m'en reste que trois, il va vite falloir que je trouve un remplaçant pour continuer sur ma lancée...

Speaking of Easter... This is what has kept me going all that time : chocolate eggs! I only have three left though so I need to quickly find a replacement if I want to keep getting things done at the same pace...
